Why create a radio station for the US Highway 285 Corridor?

The past two years, we listened to what's important to our residents:

Conifer Radio is the streaming internet public community radio voice for the Conifer-Bailey and our US Highway 285 Corridor. Conifer Radio serves our US 285 corridor communities of Conifer, Aspen Park, Pine, Bailey and our numerous other surrounding mountain neighborhood communities extending along and branching from the US 285 corridors from Morrison through Kenosha Pass, Colorado. As a public community radio station, Conifer Radio operates "advertising-free" through internet “live-streaming” technology. As a non-commercial station, we have no commercials and don't 'advertise' - we 'recognize' our community organizations, businesses and local folks.
Conifer Radio was launched in January of 2020 and grew organically through the support of a special group of founding supporters and other local underwriting sponsors. Classic alternative Side-B Mountain rock music is featured 24/7, 365 days per year. In 2022, our music will continue to diversify. Community information is also produced for the Conifer, Bailey, Pine and Highway 285 Corridor Community. Conifer Radio receives feedback and daily requests from the community as it continues to develop what our local residents expect from its first community radio station.
With the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC’s) recent moratoriums on the release of any further AM or FM (over the airwaves) radio station licenses, we have alternatively developed this internet live-streaming radio platform. Until an FM license is autorized, several genres of music and programming streams will be planned through live-stream technoligies. A listener will simply select the genre she/he prefers and will receive the same hourly underwriting promotional recognitions of the Station's supporters. Conifer Radio utilizes a very similar approach to that of National Public Radio (NPR) and operates without the nuisance of commercial advertising. Alternatively, financial support comes from Underwriters, Podcasters and content producers representing the US Highway 285 Community. These funds are utilized to cover station operational costs, pay music royalties and plan for a professional studio. Conifer Radio remains an all-volunteer community station.
Because we are an "all-volunteer" station, our operating expenses are carefully managed to a financial "break-even" status. Conifer Radio has been developed by Hudson Ross Associates, a local management consulting firm locally based on Conifer’s DoubleHeader Mountain just above Morrison, Colorado. With financial support from the community, the station plans to transition to a nonprofit community-owned organization within the next two years.
Our Mission: A Voice for the Conifer Colorado and US Highway 285 Corridor Communities.
Our Vision: To become the leading audible channel connecting the community in real-time.
Business Philosophy: Conifer Radio represents a local voice for the US Highway 285 corridor and its surrounding communities under professional, respectful and community-minded guidelines that we've followed since the station's inception. We are positive, non-political as we assist our community to lead positively from the center.

Recognizing our Founding Supporters

Conifer Radio recognizes its Founding Supporters who stood behind the community radio station concept prior to and during the pandemic of 2020. These community leaders remain strong supporters of Conifer Radio.
